Fancy 20% off your bill? If you've got an iPhone you can!

Posted 23/01/13 by Craig Events 2 Comments

Have you seen what those things can cost over a two-year period? That's not cheap! We might be a bit more conscious of this because we've only started using them as we've had an app developed but by the time you count in the cost of the phone and bills, it's a fair chunk of change.

So we're offering 20% to iPhone users for the rest of the month. All we need from you is for you to show us your phone running the Musa app...

What's in the Musa App? Well, we want you to be...

As you'd expect, the App has menus, videos and some information about Musa and gives you the chance to book a table.

But there's also a section called About Town and we'd like to highlight the businesses of our customers so if you want a mention in it, just leave your details below and we'll add them in. Just say what your business, where we can find you and online details.

Now the app is a work in progress, so we'll be adding and changing features as we go along.

We'll also use it from time to time to offer exclusive discounts and, if there's interest, have exclusive dining nights.

Where can we find the App?

That bit's easy. You can download the Musa App via iTunes.

Any more info?

Here's the press release we sent out...

Aberdeen restaurant Musa is offering 20% off lunches to iPhone owners in January to help compensate for the high cost of owning the phone.

Thousands of new iPhones were activated in the area in the north-east over the Christmas period and given the phone comes with a hefty cost over a two-year period, Musa wants to make life a little bit easier for the iPhone crowd.

Anyone who downloads the restaurant's app - available via the iTunes store - and shows it to staff when ordering a meal before 5pm until the end of January will automatically get 20% off their bill.

General Manager John Kelman said: "When you sit down and look at what an iPhone can cost you over a two-year contract, it fair mounts up to at least £1,000 if not more.

"Even if you buy the phone outright and then just do Pay As You Go, it can still be quite the hike.

"So if any iPhone user downloads our app - they can even use our free wifi to do it - and shows it to staff then they'll get a 20% discount on when they come to Musa.

"We thought we'd time it for now as the first bills will be starting to come in.

"We did want to offer free beer and wine - because when that bill comes in you'll need a stiff drink - but Aberdeen City Council said that might not be the best idea. Clearly they know how high the bills can be on these phones and one drink might not be enough."

The app is the latest form of engagement for the restaurant which has the most popular cooking video on YouTube by a Scottish restaurant with the 'how to make potato scones' video viewed nearly 40,000 times

Blackberry-using John Kelman added: "Like Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and Facebook, it's another great way of sharing interesting Musa - and food - related material with fans of the restaurant. They can see all our latest online postings and special offers as well as book a table.

"But it's not just about us as we've got a facility built in to the app that lets us profile the services that our customers offer. So if you're looking for a designer, there's one right at your fingertips. The app shouldn't just be about us, it should be about telling others about the fantastic and creative people from Aberdeen that come in here day after day.

'It also has a built-in option for calling a taxi for you so you can get to and from Musa safely."

All customers have to do is show their phone running the app to a member of staff when ordering. Staff will take a note of the mobile number and apply the discount. One discount per phone and one discount per meal sitting.

The app, developed by Legacy 3 Innovations, can be found at while Musa can be found online at
